Doc Ford’s Rum Bar and Grille on both Sanibel and Captiva are not traditional sports bars but both have lots of TV’s and festive crowds.

Doc Ford’s Rum Bar and Grille on both Sanibel and Captiva are not traditional sports bars but both have lots of TV’s and festive crowds, which makes them a great spot to watch sporting events. The Doc Ford’s on Captiva has outside seating with TV’s so you don’t even have to waste your afternoon in-doors! But don’t bother to wait for your favorite sporting event to visit because you’ll enjoy the food and the lengthy cocktail menu as well. The Yucatan Shrimp is an islander favorite.

The restaurant is named after Randy Wayne White’s famous marine biologist/former government agent, Doc Ford, who is the main character in most of Mr. White’s books. If you’re lucky, you may even be able to see the charming Mr. White who can tell a story as well as he can write one.

The Sanibel location is on the corner of Rabbit Road and San-Cap Road and the Captiva restaurant is just outside the South Seas Island Resort.
