If you’re not staying on the beach or just here for the day, don’t worry, you can still get to the beach! There are many public beaches on both Sanibel and Captiva and they are some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
The On Island App (see links on our homepage) has information on each beach, including an interactive map. But if you’re a shell seeker, in general, the shelling is better on Sanibel than Captiva. All of the public beach accesses have hourly parking available, but some offer more parking spaces than others. All are handicapped accessible and provide free handicapped parking spaces. None have food or beverages for sale and some don’t have garbage cans so you’ll have to tote your rubbish home. Also, all public beach accesses have restrooms.
